Directions to Weigh West Marine Resort

Coming from Vancouver gives you two choices. You can board the ferry at Horseshoe Bay and take it to Nanaimo's Departure Bay. As an alternative, you can take a ferry that leaves from Tsawassen, either to Duke Point near Nanaimo, or to Swartz Bay near Victoria, if your travel plans allow you this route. For more information on the routes and schedules, please visit the website of B.C. Ferries.

Tofino and the area

Soon after you enter the city limits of Tofino, you will see our sign on the right hand side. You have reached your destination! Check into your room and relax in our Dockside Marine Pub, see what our chef recommends at The Blue Heron Restaurant.

Centrally located within the Village of Tofino, Weigh West Marine Resort is close to all the amenities that Tofino has to offer. After an exciting day of fishing and boating in Clayoquot Sound, take a stroll through the village and visit the local art galleries and boutiques or the Rainforest Interpretive Centre, where you find information about the diverse ecosystem that surrounds this unique little town.

Aerial view of the village of TofinoLong Beach, famous for it's surfing waves and expansive sandy beach is a different experience every time you visit. Sometimes the sky shines a brilliant blue, other times the sun slashes through a thick rolling fog, creating a beautiful, eerie atmosphere. All of Tofino's beaches are teeming with sea life, so look for starfish, sea urchins, sand dollars and observe a wide variety of migratory shorebirds, that use this area as a resting stop.

A nice contrast to the beaches are the boardwalk trails through the ancient rainforest. A short boat ride from Tofino, on Meares Island, you will find some of the oldest trees on the West Coast of Canada. The majesty of the century old trees will take your breath away.

Being on the water is one of the best experiences in Clayoquot Sound and no visit to Tofino is complete without a whale watching tour. Weigh West offers you this experience right from the marina of the resort. The annual migration of grey whales between Baja California and Alaska makes it easy to watch these large mammals in their natural environment. If you look for relaxation, visit the hot springs, accessible by boat or sea plane and soak in the natural steaming pools.

After a day in the great outdoors, take a stroll through the quaint town of Tofino and visit the many art galleries and gift shops. Increase your knowledge of the aboriginal peoples of the area, or visit the Rainforest Interpretive Centre for more information about the unique ecosystem of Clayoquot Sound.
