Graeme Alexander

Graeme’s love for fishing was nurtured by his father at a young age while fly fishing for trout in many of the local lakes around Victoria BC. A born and raised Vancouver Island boy, he spent time in the Rocky Mountains and Yukon but found the attraction of the Pacific Ocean too great.

Graeme first came to us while studying Forestry at the UBC. Summer employment included several seasons being our on the water “fishmaster” for W.W. saltwater fly-fishing program. His addiction for catching the high-speed Coho and robust Chinook of Clayoquot Sound resulted in moving to Tofino full time after his studies.

With a vast knowledge of the Sound, Graeme is now into his seventh season and looking forward to being a team leader for Weigh West’s fishing team.

Ryan Erickson

Ryan is as true “Tofitian” as you get. He was born and raised in this small fishing village and fished its’ waters his whole life. A member of one of the oldest fishing families in the area he spent most of his young life commercial fishing with his father and uncle.

Ryan has tried his hand at catching almost every type of species imaginable from salmon and Black Cod to prawns and sea cucumber. With close to 20 years experience Ryan is know for his sixth sense, or ”fish sense” as local guides refer to it.

Ryan excels in fishing and surfing and over the past seven seasons has guided many of Weigh West’s large repeat base.

Allan Chase

Allan “Algonquin” Chase has 10 years of professional guiding experience and a lifetime of wildlife knowledge along the coasts of Vancouver Island, in addition to Rivers Inlet, Prince Rupert, and the Queen Charlotte Islands.

His passion for fishing has resulted in guiding his guests into twenty-three Chinook salmon that tilted the scale over the 50-pound mark. Allan also holds a Bachelor of Science degree that has taught him a profound knowledge of the ocean. Rarely is there a bird or sea creature that he cannot identify.

Allan skippers a 25’ Pursuit Tiara known as the “Chase-n-Tail” it is equipped with the best fishing gear available; Sage rods and Islander reels. Whether booking a family trip or a group of serious anglers, he has what it takes to deliver a trip of a lifetime.

Darin Johnstone

Darin Has fourteen years experience as a fishing guide in a variety of locations on the coast of Vancouver Island as well as the Queen Charlotte Islands. Working in different locations has allowed him to take pride in his abilities as a versatile guide. Darin says, “If you want the fast action, reel screaming offshore fishing, or the heart pounding anticipation of mooching a cut plug herring for that elusive tyee, I will deliver”

His experience as a skillful fishing guide with his Tourism Management Degree collectively gives him a true respect for his profession and clients; he takes great satisfaction in providing optimal customer service. A complete marine wildlife sightseeing adventure can be expected. Darin hopes to see you on the water.

Lance Desilets

Lance was born in the big tourist town of Niagara Falls, Ontario. Growing up around the Great Lakes he spent countless hours fishing with his family and friends who could see his passion for fishing.

In 1999, Lance and his now wife moved to Tofino to begin a life on the coast, of course he fell in love with it and felt the fishing was world class. From the start, his preferred pursuit was Tyee Salmon and large Halibut.

For the past five years, Lance has owned and operated his own successful charter company. This season Weigh West is fortunate to have Lance as an addition to their professional fishing team.
